Teaching Houston to dance since 1975
About Tony.

I love dancing and have danced all my life. This is the only profession I have ever had.

It all started in the 1970s when I arrived in New York City and joined Arthur Murray Dance-Training Program to become a professional teacher. I was there for two years, and during that time, I perfected the foundation of my dancing and my teaching skills.

I was transferred to Houston to teach as an advanced teacher. While here, I received my certification from the Arthur Murray Studios Headquarters in New York, qualifying me to teach all levels of dancing - Bronze, Silver and Gold. I have also participated in many competitions, winning top teachers awards in Miami, Nashville, and Las Vegas national competitions.

Ten years later, I went to work at Fred Astaire's Dance Studios. There I learned the figures and techniques of the their teaching curriculum, while continuing to participate in competitions and showcases all over the United States, winning many competitions and top teachers awards including the Fred Astaire Freddy Awards twice (the Freddy Award is comparable to the Oscars for teachers of the Fred Astaire Studios).

In 1993, I decided to go into business for myself, opening my studio at the Dance Place in Houston, which offers some of the best training and facilities in the country for amateurs and professionals. Here I teach private lessons, group lessons, and can coach professionals preparing for competition.

I have also enjoyed judging dance competitions. I find it especially rewarding to see students' faces light up when they realize they CAN dance. I encourage everyone to dance, because dancing is so much fun. And remember, dancing is a celebration of life. So celebrate life. Try dancing!
